An Invaluable Experience For Pakefield Students.
On Thursday 5th July, staff from Hammond Motor Group joined other local businesses, colleges and sixth forms at Pakefield High School’s annual work experience event.
The event, which is now in its third year, helps to prepare Year 10 students for when they leave school. The day provides students with an invaluable experience; the opportunity to take part in a job interview.
This year Victor Maycock (HR Manager), Andrew Leach (Group Accounts Manager), John Barker (Ford Sales Manager) and Hannah Gooda (Marketing Coordinator) represented Hammond Motor Group.
The students had to apply from a list of hypothetical jobs including, Engineer Maintenance Apprentice, Domestic Operative, HR Office Administrator, Industrial/Laundry Operative and a Security Guard. They then took part in a one to one, 20-minute mock interview where they were given feedback as to how to improve their interview technique.
The careers team at Pakefield, explained, “Despite coming into the hall quite nervous, students bounced out feeling happy and proud they had completed their interviews. It really is such a valuable experience for them prior to starting work experience…”
Victor said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for Hammonds to engage with and inspire the next generation. Hammond Motor Group looks forward to working with the school in future continuing to build relationships with the possibility of future employment.”
