Vehicle Breakdown Recovery Manager
An opportunity has arisen for a Vehicle Recovery Manager to join our team. We are looking for someone with a friendly and positive “Can do” attitude to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy vehicle recovery and breakdown department. You will be required to manage a team of drivers and admin staff, ensuring efficient vehicle recovery procedures are followed, and maintaining customer service standards while adhering to safety regulations.
Key responsibilities:
- To manage the day-to-day transport operations ensuring operational requirements are met with a hands-on approach.
- Responsibility for performance and review of operational procedures and risk assessments.
- Maintaining and improving department performance levels to maximise efficiency in line with departments KPI's.
- Plan, execute, review, and manage all training requirements for the breakdown and recovery Team.
- Ensure all drivers are trained to work safely and carry out specified breakdown and recovery tasks.
- Regularly conduct annual driver assessments including performance reviews, where necessary arrange additional training.
- Manage all training requirements and ensure driver training register is maintained and reviewed annually with refresher training instigated where necessary.
- Ensure all transport department vehicle equipment is maintained and checked regularly to minimise operational downtime.
Team Management:
• Recruiting, hiring, and training new recovery drivers.
• Supervising and evaluating driver performance.
• Providing feedback by effective team management, achieving positive attitudes, coaching drivers on safety procedures and excellent customer service.
• Addressing disciplinary issues as needed.
Operational Efficiency:
• Customer Service.
• Handling customer inquiries and complaints regarding recovery services.
• Ensuring timely communication with customers throughout the recovery process.
• Resolving customer issues professionally and maintaining a positive customer experience.
Compliance and Safety:
• Enforcing strict adherence to all relevant safety regulations, including loading and securing vehicles properly.
• Investigating accidents and incidents to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Leadership Abilities: Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate a team of drivers.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to quickly assess situations and make effective decisions under pressure.
• Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with dispatch software and GPS tracking systems.
• Valid Driver's Licence, possessing a relevant driving licence with a clean driving record.
Desirable requirements:
- HGV class 1 driving licence
- CPC in Transport Management
- Extensive background in the transport industry.
- Flexibility and able to work hours as required.
