Halesworth Accident Repair Centre achieves carbon neutrality
Our Accident Repair Centre in Halesworth is awarded PAS 2060 – Carbon Neutrality
We are delighted to have taken the massive step of this accreditation to become carbon neutral. As a business this means that we are proactively reversing our impact on climate change whilst reducing emissions over time.
As a well-established group we recognise that taking sustainability action is crucial to long-term success. We welcomed the opportunity to become carbon neutral and contribute to nature and reap the rewards of increased revenue, reduced costs, attract new business and reduced risk of carbon tax.
Matt Summerfield, Assistant Bodyshop Manager at Halesworth presented these answers around the accreditation.
How did we achieve it?
Once our carbon emissions where calculated they were then reduced though a certified carbon offset project, carbon offsetting to a proactive environmental action reversing the impact of emissions.
Why did we want to/need to?
The reason for getting the PAS 2060 is that it helps combat climate change and progress towards net zero global greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions. The benefits of PAS 2060 is reducing greenhouse gas emissions building better environmental policy and investing is meaningful carbon offsets.
What does this mean for us?
What it means for Hammonds ARC is that we are now a carbon neutral company and by becoming carbon neutral we are now proactively reversing our impact on climate change whilst reducing emissions over time.
What is PAS 2060?
PAS 2060 is the internationally recognised specification for carbon neutrality published by BSI. It sets out the requirements for quantifying, reducing and offsetting greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions and products.
What are the offsets?
Offsets are projects which either reduce carbon going into the atmosphere, such as renewable energy projects, prevent depletion of nature, or remove greenhouse gases.
