ATF Service - Fast tractors are coming into the scope of annual testing
What is a fast tractor?
Roadworthiness directive (2014/45/EU which comes into effect from 20 May 2018), will introduce mandatory annual testing of “fast tractors”. This means that these vehicles (also referred to as ‘category T’) will come into scope of mandatory testing if they are:
- capable by design and construction of exceeding 40 km/h
- used for haulage of a load that is not related to agriculture, horticulture or forestry operations
- used more than 15 miles from their operating base
To be considered as fast tractors, they must meet all the above criteria. These vehicles are to be included in the existing Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) scheme, using the current test standards. The first test will be required 4 years after first registration and then at 2 yearly intervals. To book your tractor in please call: 01986 244078.
